Good Book? Bad Book? – Qualifications of books that I like

8/14/2016

In conclusion, I like books that I can understand and appraise. I like short poems and straight to the point books. I like less expensive and “worth it” books.

First of all, I hate poetry books that don’t convey any meaning. I get frustrated and annoyed when I read a poem on the first page of a book and I don’t understand it. In such situations, I manage to reach the third page, then if the symptoms persist, I go to the last page. Now if the poem from the last page is good and I understand it, I read from the back to the front. If the poem at the back is still not understandable, I move to the middle. If it is the same situation there, then that’s the end of my relationship with such books. For goodness sake, I don’t think the idea of poetry is to make the world difficult. Writers, please stop tormenting the readers!!!

Secondly, I have low commitment to long poems. If a poem is long, please it should not rant, it should have progressive and interesting use of words and messages that can jail my attention to the book. Not only for poetry but for novels too. I got a novel recently, managed to get half way and I just gave up. The beginning of the novel was interesting, captivating and as time went on, the author started to repeat the same ideas over and over again. You could almost see what was coming next. It sounded like one baby mama from one of Madea’s movies; “Bryiannnnnnn, bryiaaaannnn, your baby is cryiiiing.”

Lastly nothing pisses me off than expensive books that end up not being worth their price. Please if you will add a price tag to the book, add it because the idea is worth that amount of money, not just because the book is big.
