Hungry at 2am, Me Too...

No one really has it all and like the Yoruba people will say – the person that has head does not have a cap while the person that has the cap does not have a head.

I won't be writing about food as the title suggests so you might as well stop salivating now. The title means the weird aspirations that happen at unnecessary, inconvenient or less appropriate times of our existence.

It baffles me when people tell me their aspirations and how hungry they are for it and they end their speech with “maybe when I grow up and I have this and that.” The funniest part is if they are grown and their still saying "when I grow up..." Please you are not the resurrected Methuselah and you don't have all the time in the world. What about now?

Can you remember that one thing you swore as a kid, teenager or youth to do when you grow up and have the whole world to yourself? I don’t mean the serious things like marriage or buying a house that may require a more appropriate timing. I mean an interest or hobby or a positive and fun experience. It sucks to know that you are grown and I bet you no longer feel like doing it again or you just don’t have the time for it. You grew out of the idea and with time allowed other things and opinions to contaminate your passion for it until you just didn’t find it attracting anymore or until you lost the strength to pursue it.

This topic reminds me a of a quote I saw recently. It says,
As a kid you may have energy and time but no money to fulfill the dreams;
As a young adult, you may have energy and money but no time;
And as an elderly person, you may have money and time but no energy…

I don’t think I wrote it exactly the way I saw it but my point is that there will always be an excuse to not pursue that heart desire, experience and interest. No one really has it all and like the Yoruba people will say – the person that has head does not have a cap while the person that has the cap does not have a head.

It is up to you to start pursuing your aspirations, no matter how small you have to start or significant the excuse may be. It is scarce to find a moment when you will really “have it all” to get what you want.
