Review of Knots by R.D. Liang

9/1/2016

I imitated his style of writing while working on my second collection and this book particularly inspired me to talk about the problems I face as an introvert. I found confidence and liberation in being normal in a different way and different in a normal way through this book.

This book is NUTS, BANANAS, CRAZY IN A GOOD WAY and MIND TWISTING.

R.D Laing was a well-known Psychiatrist, so, when I first saw this book with my professor who teaches a course titled Abnormal Psychology, I did not expect anything normal from it. There were some tongue and mind twisting short poems in this piece that only requires  commonsense to understand.

He talked about morality, sanity, insanity, habits, and love in his piece. R.D Laing has a daunting and unique style of writing and it is hard to deny its quality. This book touches on the topic of mental health too. It presents madness in a normal way. It drew me to realize that no matter how “normal” I’ll like to be, there is still that one “knot” or more twisted areas that will never fit into the societal norms. This collection made me question what is really “normal.”'
