There is one thing that I find annoying about this topic of gender wage gap when it comes to men. It is when they start to present themselves as if they are the ones suffering the most on these issues of gender wages. In their defense against feminism and letting women get the salaries that they deserve, some men will say that “they have the burden of going out to work to fend for the family.” Can’t you see? Women are fighting for their space and equal pay in the work force so that the burden placed on men to be providers will be reduced? Maybe if you give a woman, the right amount that she worked for, she will be able to contribute more to the financial requirements of the home and men will feel less pressured to be providers! See why I always say feminism even helps men in the long run. But no, we are entertained when a woman stands behind a man and threatened when she stands beside him.
It is so sad that even when women offer to help men in their financial issues they reject it out of the pride and shame that they feel. It is sick that a woman helping a man should even be considered as an insult or as an event to hide and be shameful about. But if it is the other way around, oh yeah, a film will be made called “Prince charming to the rescue.” The mentalities that some people have that fosters inequality should be stopped. Stop making women feel less for doing the things that they have the ability to do.
It is no news that to every dollar a man gets, a woman gets 76 cents. Guess the excuse to refuse women of their right here. It is said that most women make the choice to spend more hours with their kids and family than to work. That is, men work more hours than women. Ignorance dances seductively here because the studies that expose these gender wage gap are done with women and men who work full time. Besides that, if these traditional gender roles and ideas are a little bit less selfish, maybe women won’t be restricted by the duty of taking care of their children. Maybe men too will spend more time at home and see how good it feels… At the end of it, if a child turns out right, they will say it is the father’s child but if the child turns out rebellious, it is the mother’s child. Clap for yourself.
This is why I admire women who go to school, to get educated and have the qualifications that is necessary for a job position that they want. Before women were given the freedom to be educated, employers had the excuse that men were more qualified because they were the only educated species but what now? New excuse? Men have physical strength. Bruh, this is 21st century, technology has advanced, you need a brain and knowledge to operate majority of things and if men have physical strength, okay. Why not open doors for women to partake in presidency and high ranked jobs that don’t require physical strength.
The newest masquerade parading the town is an educated woman, rich woman, feminist, the one that can fend for herself, the one whose Cinderella story is complete without prince charming. Women should be embraced and compensated for working hard to achieve their desires rather than shamed. People still don’t get it that women don’t want to be men or steal men’s functions, they just want better options that benefit their gender, period. It will get to a time; you will run out of excuses to deny a woman something that she truly qualifies for.
