A Shelf of Voices

Sade,
we all know you
did not acquire
the soprano you
use to speak with Tunde
from the choir.

You can only boil water
but you are claiming chef
and all the books on your shelf
will return to the library later.
Yet, on date nights
you'll quote Shakespeare,
mix it with Galatians
and a little laughter.

But if we talk,
you switch
to baritone to give a speech
about the fact that
those of us speaking the truth
do not have men yet.
