Before a Nigerian woman apologizes to you,
she will cook and ask if you have eaten,
and after a long day, ask why you look beaten.
She will say "why you come dey do shakara.”
If you don't respond, she will use synonyms like "yanga."
If God has revealed all the mysteries of this earth,
a Nigerian woman's direct apology is still seeking birth.
Methuselah will add more age and beard,
even Jesus will return before it is said.
But what's sweeter than her apology
is what she does to show she's sorry.
If she says, "baby try this dress,"
please accept it to reduce her stress.
If she says, "baby, tell me what you'll eat,"
ask for the best meal and largest meat.
There are seven wonders in the world,
but have you found
a Nigerian woman's apology because
it surpasses them all.
